Data Methodology
Source selection
Official machine-readable UK aviation and statutory sources are preferred. Public advisory sources are used only when their role and limitations can be made clear to the user.
Ingestion and freshness
Upstream records are normalised into consistent map layers. DroneIQ records refresh timestamps, parser warnings, feature counts, and last-known usable cache state for operational visibility.
Failure handling
When an upstream refresh fails, DroneIQ may serve a previously cached copy rather than erase usable information. Stale or warning states are surfaced in the map and source diagnostics.
Plain-language guidance
Structured source fields and source notes are used to produce concise explanations. The original source meaning remains authoritative when a summary and its source differ.
Community information
Public flight plans are submitted by users and are planning-awareness information only. They are not NOTAMs and do not provide legal clearance.
Known limitations
Some official material is not sufficiently machine-readable for reliable production geometry. DroneIQ does not invent geometry merely to match another map; unsupported layers remain documented until an authoritative implementation is available.
